Bhubaneswar: In a strict enforcement drive against road safety rule violations, Odisha Police on Monday issued a total of 8,811 challans across the state and seized 11 vehicles.
According to official data released by the State Transport Authority, the highest number of challans were issued for riding without helmets — 4,806 cases. This was followed by 786 challans for speeding, 349 for triple riding and 273 for driving vehicles without valid insurance.
The STA has appealed to the public to always follow road safety rules for a safe journey and to return home safely. Besides, the STA Authorities stated that such strict action will continue to ensure better compliance with traffic regulations and reduce road accidents in the state.
