Pattamundai: Former MLA Anshuman Mohanty was bitten by a snake while visiting a flood-affected area in Bachhara Mandapada under the Rajanagar Assembly constituency in Kendrapara district on Thursday, officials said.
Mohanty was inspecting the flood situation and interacting with affected residents when the incident occurred. He was immediately taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Rajnagar for medical treatment.
Following treatment, his condition was stated to be stable. Doctors have kept him under observation.
Several villages in the Rajanagar Assembly constituency have been cut off from the rest of the area following flooding in the Brahmani river, affecting a large number of people.
Bachhara Mandapada is among the affected areas. Mohanty had visited the locality to assess the problems faced by flood-hit residents and extend assistance when he was bitten by the snake.
