Bhubaneswar: BJD vice-president and former minister Debi Prasad Mishra had a narrow escape on Thursday after a cement-laden truck collided with his car near Kamaladeipur Chhak on the Narsinghpur main road in Kataka district.
According to reports, the truck hit the side and rear portion of Mishra’s car with such force that the vehicle was badly damaged. Mishra, who was inside the car at the time of the accident, however escaped unhurt.
Local people and passersby rushed to the spot following the collision. On being informed, police reached the spot and detained the truck driver for questioning.
The damaged car was later cleared from the road to restore traffic movement. Police said a probe has been launched to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances that led to the accident.
Mishra is a senior BJD leader and former minister in the Odisha government.
