Bhubaneswar: The hanging body of a Plus II girl student of Laxmipur College was recovered in Koraput district on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as a resident of Toyaput village.
According to reports, the girl had left her home yesterday wearing her college dress, telling her family that she was going to college. However, she did not return home till evening and was missing throughout the night. Subsequently, her family members and villagers launched a search for her. To everyone’s surprise, her body was found hanging with her own dupatta from a tree in a cashew orchard near the village.
Till the last report came in, police have not reached the spot and begun investigation for which it is yet to establish whether it is a case of murder or suicide.
The exact circumstances leading to the death of the 17-year-old girl and the reason behind it will only be known after investigation.
