Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of a former Principal of the Government Driving Training School, Bhubaneswar, in a disproportionate assets case.
The convict has been identified as Pravakar Behera, former Principal, Government Driving Training School, Bhubaneswar, who had retired from service. He was charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1) (e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
On Friday, the Special Judge, Special Court, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar found him guilty and sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for three years. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,00,000 on him.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance said it will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Pravakar Behera.
