Puri: In a tragic turn of events, a 44-year-old woman devotee from Rajasthan died after completing darshan of Lord Jagannath at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Varsha Gupta, a resident of the Alwar region of Rajasthan. She had arrived in Puri with her family on Friday and visited the temple on Saturday morning to seek the blessings of Mahaprabhu Jagannath.
According to her family members, Varsha completed the darshan along with her family and was performing parikrama inside the temple premises when she suddenly fell ill. As her condition deteriorated, her family members rushed her to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
However, despite medical efforts, doctors at the hospital declared her dead while she was undergoing treatment.
The sudden death of Varsha has left her family members devastated. What was meant to be a spiritually significant visit to Puri with her family ended in an unexpected tragedy shortly after she had the darshan of Mahaprabhu Jagannath.
The circumstances leading to her sudden illness and death were not immediately known.
