Bhubaneswar: The locomotive of a passenger train uncoupled shortly after leaving Balangir on Sunday, prompting railway staff to carry out immediate corrective measures and re-couple it within around 40 minutes, officials said.
Train No. 12894 experienced the brief operational issue at around 3 pm when it was moving at low speed, according to the East Coast Railway (ECoR).
Railway personnel immediately attended to the problem and re-coupled the locomotive with the train. Following the necessary safety checks, the train was cleared to proceed and resumed its journey safely at around 3:40 pm.
The ECoR said the issue was handled promptly by railway staff and there was no inconvenience to passengers.
Train operations on the route were also not disrupted due to the incident, the railway said.
Officials said the train was allowed to continue its journey only after the required safety checks were completed.
