Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the demise of former minister Dambaru Majhi.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said, “Deeply saddened to learn about the demise of senior politician and former minister Dambaru Majhi. Condolences to the bereaved family and pray to Lord Jagannath for the peace of the departed soul.”
Majhi passed away while undergoing treatment at the ICU of Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital. He was suffering from old age related ailments.
Between 1967 and 1990, he served in the state cabinet four times as Minister for Transport, Finance and Culture.
He was elected to the Odisha Assembly from the erstwhile Kodinga, now Dabugam, constituency. During his long political career, he was associated with the Swatantra Party, Indian National Congress, Biju Janata Dal and the BJP.
In 2009, he contested the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat on a BJD ticket and lost. In October 2018, he left the BJD and joined the BJP.
