Bhubaneswar: A well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Bengal and north Odisha continued to influence the weather over the region on Sunday, with the system likely to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 24 hours.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the system lay over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of north coastal Odisha and the northwest Bay of Bengal at 5:30 pm on Sunday.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, the weather agency said.
The IMD said the system is likely to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the next 24 hours.
The movement of the system is expected to influence weather conditions across Odisha and neighbouring areas, with several parts of the state likely to experience rainfall under its influence.
The weather department is closely monitoring the system, and further updates are expected as it moves inland.
