Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards strengthening industrial safety and fostering a culture of accident prevention in factories across Odisha, the book Surakshya Setu: Industrial Safety & Risk Management Manual was formally released by the Minister for Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Labour & Employees’ State Insurance, Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, on Tuesday.
On the occasion, the Minister said, “The widespread dissemination of safety knowledge will enable industrial establishments, workers, and employees to identify and eliminate unsafe practices and conditions in their workplaces. The active participation of all stakeholders is essential to achieving our goal of zero industrial accidents in the State. I am confident that industries across Odisha will benefit from this manual and effectively implement its guidelines to enhance workplace safety.”
The publication has been developed as a practical and user-friendly reference guide for workers, supervisors, safety professionals, managers, and other stakeholders engaged in industrial operations. It aims to provide easily accessible guidance on essential aspects of workplace safety and risk management.
The Surakshya Setu manual brings together key principles and best practices relating to workplace safety, hazard identification, risk assessment, safe work procedures, accident prevention, and emergency preparedness in a simple and accessible manner.
The manual is expected to play an important role in enhancing safety awareness and promoting safe work practices among workers and other stakeholders. It will also contribute to developing and strengthening a safety-oriented culture in industrial establishments, with the broader objective of ensuring safer and healthier workplaces across the State.
The release ceremony was attended by Dodda Venkat Swamy, Principal Secretary, Labour & ESI Department, Odisha; Indramani Tripathy, Labour Commissioner, Odisha, and Director of Factories & Boilers; and Dr. Malaya Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Director (Safety), among others.
The initiative reflects the Department’s continued commitment to worker safety, the prevention of industrial accidents, and the promotion of a safe and healthy working environment across the State.
