Bhubaneswar: A fire broke out in the anesthetist room of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
The incident occurred on the second floor where smoke was seen emanating from an old air conditioner machine. Preliminary reports suggest the fire was triggered by a short circuit.
At the time of the incident, there were no patients inside the anesthetist room. However, patients admitted to rooms close to it were immediately shifted to safe places.
The air conditioner was completely gutted in the fire and some other equipment also sustained damage. No casualty has been reported.
Security guards and fire personnel reached the spot and swung into action, bringing the flames under control.
Later, senior administrative officials rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. The fire brigade team is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
