Puri: A tourist couple, including a pregnant woman, was allegedly assaulted by hotel staff following a dispute over food at a hotel under Sea Beach police station here, police said.
The incident occurred last night when 13 tourists from Mysuru in Karnataka, who had come to visit Puri, ordered food at the hotel after visiting the sea. According to the complaint, the group found a hair in one of the food items and asked the hotel staff to replace it.
The dispute allegedly escalated, following which the hotel staff pulled down the shutter and assaulted Bharat Chandra of Mysuru and his 23-year-old wife, who is pregnant.
The woman allegedly sustained injuries to her abdomen after being hit against a table during the assault. Both were subsequently rescued by a PCR team and taken to the Puri District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
The entire incident was reportedly captured on the woman’s mobile phone camera. An FIR has been lodged in connection with the incident, and Sea Beach police are investigating.
