Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Fire and Emergency Service has been working round-the-clock to deal with the impact of the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal, which triggered heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state.
Sharing its emergency response update for the reporting period from September 23 to September 25, the department informed that it has received a total of 520 incident calls. Out of these, the majority were for tree cutting and road clearance operations, accounting for 412 cases, while dewatering operations were carried out at 102 locations.
The department has deployed 83 high capacity pumps to clear waterlogged areas. During this period, the Fire Service also responded to 2 landslide incidents and rescued six persons and nine animals from different affected areas.
To handle the emergency situation, a total of 185 response teams have been deployed across Odisha and 152 fire stations have been mobilized, the department said.
