Bhubaneswar: Odisha has 36 vacant posts against its sanctioned strength of 248 IAS officers, leaving around 15 per cent of the state cadre positions unfilled, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said in a written reply in the Assembly on Monday.
According to the reply, the state currently has 212 IAS officers in service. Of them, 25 are on central deputation, leaving 187 officers serving within Odisha.
The sanctioned strength of the Odisha IAS cadre stands at 248, resulting in a shortfall of 36 officers against the approved strength.
Majhi said steps are being taken to fill the vacancies through both direct recruitment and promotion.
The reply did not provide a department-wise breakup of the vacant IAS posts.
