Bhubaneswar: As many as 72,090 women were reported missing in Odisha during the five-year period from 2021 to 2025, of whom 53,720 had been traced as of July 31, 2026, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the state assembly on Monday.
In a written reply to a question by Patna MLA Akhila Chandra Naik, Majhi said 11,635 women were reported missing in 2021, of whom 9,121 had been traced as of July 31, 2026.
In 2022, a total of 12,793 women were reported missing, while 9,871 of them had been traced by July 31, 2026, according to the data provided by the Chief Minister.
The state reported 13,915 missing women in 2023, of whom 10,661 had been traced as of July 31, 2026.
In 2024, as many as 16,000 women were reported missing, while 12,011 had been traced by July 31, 2026.
The number of women reported missing stood at 17,747 in 2025, of whom 12,056 had been traced as of July 31, 2026.
The figures show that the number of women reported missing annually increased from 11,635 in 2021 to 17,747 in 2025.
The Chief Minister also provided details of children and girls reported missing during the period and those traced as of July 31, 2026.
