Bhubaneswar: Odisha Yatri, the State’s technology-enabled mobility platform, is set to showcase its growing mobility ecosystem and citizen-centric innovations at the 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Expo 2026, to be held in Bhubaneswar under the theme “Urban Accessibility & Liveability in the Digital Age.”
Odisha is the first State in Eastern India to host the Urban Mobility India Conference & Expo, the annual flagship event of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The conference provides a platform for policymakers, urban transport professionals, technology and service providers, practitioners and experts to exchange knowledge, share best practices and explore innovative solutions for sustainable urban mobility.
In another significant milestone in technology-enabled citizen safety, the State has become the first in India to offer integrated mobility and citizen safety services through a single State-owned platform with the launch of the Safety Module on Odisha Yatri. The initiative brings mobility and public safety services together on a unified digital platform, with integration with Odisha Police and the national emergency response system, 112.
The Safety Module is available on both iOS and Android and features 11 integrated safety features, including Shake to Alert, alarm, location sharing and emergency contact facilities. The One-Tap SOS facility connects users to the national emergency helpline 112, while the Safety Module has been rolled out to approximately 1.86 lakh users.
The platform has also recorded significant growth in its mobility services, completing 10 lakh trips, with 6.34 lakh registered users and 18.6K enabled drivers across five cities. Odisha Yatri has generated ₹15.5 crore in earnings for drivers, with a 100% pass-through model, ensuring that the full amount reaches drivers without any commission being retained.
Odisha Yatri recorded its highest monthly performance in January 2026, with 60,000 trips generated from 3.28 lakh ride searches, reflecting the growing adoption of technology-enabled mobility services.
Odisha Yatri is expanding beyond conventional ride-hailing to create a broader and more connected mobility ecosystem. The platform currently facilitates Ama Bus services across four cities and boating services at Satapada, operated in partnership with the Dolphin Boat Association.
The integration of mobility and safety services marks a significant step towards making technology-driven public services more accessible and responsive. With features such as emergency alerts, location sharing and SOS assistance, Odisha Yatri is evolving into a platform that supports citizens not only in their daily mobility needs but also during emergencies.
Hosting UMI 2026 provides Odisha with an opportunity to showcase its emerging mobility solutions to national and international stakeholders. Odisha Yatri’s participation will highlight how digital technology, innovation and citizen-centric services can contribute to safer, more accessible, inclusive and liveable cities.
The journey of Odisha Yatri reflects Odisha’s broader vision of using technology to improve everyday experiences and strengthen citizen-centric governance. From enabling seamless mobility to integrating emergency safety services, the platform represents an evolving digital ecosystem designed around the needs of citizens.
The initiative contributes to the larger aspirations of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat, with innovation and technology serving as key enablers of inclusive, sustainable and people-centric urban development.
