Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Information Service Association (OISA) has called for cadre strengthening, timely promotions and regular training of officers to improve professional efficiency and public service delivery.

The resolutions were adopted at the association’s Annual General Body Meeting held here on Saturday as part of its Annual Function 2026 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan.

The meeting deliberated on cadre-related issues and professional development, resolving to pursue the demands through sustained follow-up with the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

A seminar on “Public Relations in the Digital Age: Changing Responsibilities, Emerging Challenges and New Opportunities for Public Relations Officers” was also organised on the occasion.

I&PR Director Sanjay Kumar Biswal, who attended as the chief guest, underscored the role of OISA in promoting professional growth and collective development among Odisha Information Service (OIS) officers. He assured that the government would extend necessary support to strengthen the cadre and enhance public service delivery.

Prof. Anand Pradhan, Regional Director of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Dhenkanal, highlighted the growing importance of digital media, credible information dissemination and people-centric communication. He urged public relations officers to adapt to emerging technologies, counter misinformation and adopt innovative strategies to strengthen public trust.

I&PR Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Beuria attended as the guest of honour.

The association also felicitated retired OIS officers in recognition of their contributions. The veterans shared their professional experiences and insights with serving officers.

OISA expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi for releasing its souvenir, Loka Sampark, on October 9 during an orientation programme for OIS officers on emerging trends in social media organised by the I&PR Department.

The annual function also featured poetry recitation, mimicry and other cultural activities. OISA President Sucheta Priyadarshini, General Secretary Pathani Rout, advisor Santosh Kumar Das, Vice-President Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, Joint Secretary Deepak Kumar Sahoo and other office-bearers attended the programme.
