Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has made self-registration on the ‘Kapas Kisan’ mobile app compulsory for cotton farmers who want to sell their produce at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The notification issued by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment states that for the 2022-23 season, the Cotton Corporation of India Limited (CCI) will procure cotton at MSP only from those farmers who have registered themselves on the app. The last date for completing the registration is October 31.
To register, farmers need to provide their farmer registration ID and a cotton cultivation certificate from their Village Agriculture Worker (VAW) or Agriculture Overseer (AO). They will also need an Aadhaar-linked bank account and a photocopy of the Aadhaar card used during registration.
For more information, farmers can contact the officials at their nearest CCI cotton procurement centre or their local Village Agriculture Worker and Krushak Sathi. Besides, the state government has also issued helpline numbers 6370011920 and 155333 for any assistance.
