Majhi said the investments would strengthen Odisha’s industrial ecosystem, expand manufacturing capabilities and create fresh employment opportunities, particularly for young people and skilled and semi-skilled workers.
The projects are also expected to promote value addition and provide business opportunities for local suppliers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs, he said.
Describing the investments as a significant step towards building a self-reliant and prosperous Odisha, the chief minister said the state was working to emerge as a major manufacturing destination in India and globally.
Taking a dig at the previous BJD government, Majhi said his government had so far launched 116 industrial projects and inaugurated 35 others, taking the total to 151 projects.
These projects represent a cumulative investment of Rs 3,11,722.46 crore and are expected to generate around 2,40,697 employment opportunities, the statement said.
