Bhubaneswar: Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) President Ipsita Sahu was picked up by police from the Rama Devi Women’s University campus on Thursday while voting for the student union elections was underway. Following her detention, BCJD girl students staged a protest.
According to reports, a complaint was lodged at Saheed Nagar Police Station alleging that Ipsita misbehaved and was involved in a scuffle with the ABVP presidential candidate and some other girl students. However, it is not immediately clear whether she was picked up in connection with that complaint or for some other reason.
In the FIR filed at Saheed Nagar Police Station, ABVP presidential candidate for Rama Devi Women’s University election, Pratiksha Dash Mohapatra, and three other girl students alleged that when they had gone to the IG Hostel at around 7 am today to meet a sick sister, Ipsita Sahu and BCJD presidential candidate Fatima Khatun abused them in filthy language, misbehaved with them and indulged in a scuffle.
