Bhubaneswar: Student union election at Kshetrabasi DAV (KBDAV) College, Nirakarpur in Khordha district has been cancelled after clashes broke out on campus during voting.

According to reports, the Khordha Sub-Collector ordered the cancellation of election on the recommendation of the College Principal after the situation turned uncontrollable. Following the unrest, the administration has imposed BNS Section 163 in and around the college premises for seven days and tight security has been deployed to maintain law and order.

The incident came even as student council elections are underway across the state. Voting began at 8 am in various universities and colleges and will continue till 2 pm. While polling has been largely peaceful and disciplined in most institutions, tension and student unrest were reported from a few colleges, including Nirakarpur.
