Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Fire Services Department has made extensive security arrangements to ensure a safe and fire-free Durga Puja in Cuttack city this year.
With Durga Puja being organised at 215 mandaps across the city, a heavy rush of devotees is expected.
To handle any emergency, the department has formed 15 teams and set up temporary fire camps at key locations including Malgodam, Madhupatna, Lalbag, Bidanasi, CNBT, Jagatpur, Baliyatra ground, Devigada, Canal Bank and Gadgadia Ghat.
Each camp will have 10 fire fighters and will be equipped with all types of fire safety equipment. Water loading arrangements have been made at two places.
All operations will be monitored from a main control room. Puja committees have been asked to keep sandbags, water and other safety measures ready near the mandaps. A team is visiting all mandaps in the city to check compliance and ensure security measures are in place, said the Cuttack Sub Fire Officer.
