Bhubaneswar/Brahmapur: Electricity supply has been restored in the flood-affected Aska urban area of Odisha’s Ganjam district following severe waterlogging triggered by Cyclone Arnab and subsequent heavy rainfall, officials said on Monday.
Restoration teams worked round the clock to repair damaged electrical infrastructure and restore normalcy in the power distribution network despite challenging ground conditions.
Aska witnessed extensive waterlogging, affecting several neighbourhoods, market areas and commercial establishments. Inundated locations, accumulated mud and debris, and damage to electrical infrastructure posed significant challenges for the restoration teams.
Personnel were mobilised to carry out repair and restoration work while adhering to safety protocols, the power distribution company said.
To strengthen restoration operations across its eight-district service area, TPSODL deployed around 6,500 personnel across southern Odisha. The workforce comprised senior officials, engineers, employees, and skilled and unskilled project personnel.
The restoration operations were supported by around 400 vehicles, six mobile distribution substations and 16 transit stores to facilitate the movement of personnel, equipment and materials to affected locations.
Dedicated teams worked across divisions to assess the damage, repair electrical infrastructure and progressively restore electricity supply.
The company said the coordinated deployment of manpower, vehicles and equipment helped strengthen restoration efforts in the affected areas.
