New Delhi: Tata Sons Executive Chairman N Chandrasekaran received a total remuneration of Rs 158.6 crore in FY26, making it his highest annual compensation since the holding company started disclosing directors’ remuneration in its financial statements.

According to the company’s annual report, Chandrasekaran’s remuneration included Rs 17.9 crore in salary and allowances, while Rs 140.7 crore was paid as commission.

With the latest payout, Chandrasekaran’s cumulative remuneration over the past five financial years has reached about Rs 685 crore.

His FY26 remuneration also accounted for nearly 80 per cent of the total compensation paid to all Tata Sons directors during the financial year.

Chandrasekaran continues to rank among India’s highest-paid corporate leaders. However, his FY26 remuneration remains below the Rs 176 crore received by HCLTech CEO C Vijayakumar during the same financial year.

The latest figures also highlight the consistent growth in Chandrasekaran’s annual remuneration over recent years. He received Rs 155 crore in FY25 and Rs 134.8 crore in FY24, with FY26 marking the highest annual payout during the five-year period.

The disclosure comes ahead of Tata Sons’ annual general meeting scheduled for next month, where shareholders will vote on key resolutions.

Although Chandrasekaran’s current five-year term as Executive Chairman runs until February 2027, he is due to retire by rotation and will require shareholder approval to continue as a director on the Tata Sons board.

Tata Sons Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director Saurabh Agrawal was the company’s second-highest-paid executive in FY26, receiving total remuneration of Rs 34 crore, including Rs 26 crore as commission.

Apart from Chandrasekaran and Agrawal, none of the other seven board members received any remuneration. However, six of them were paid commissions ranging between Rs 1 crore and Rs 3 crore. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman Emeritus of TVS Motor Company, was the only board member who received neither remuneration nor commission.
