Bengaluru: A sexual harassment case has been registered against a boxing coach associated with the private boxing club at a reputed Stadium in Bengaluru. The legal action follows allegations by a 17-year-old boxer and her mother, who accused him of inappropriate behavior and harassment.

The incident is reported within the limits of the Sampangiramnagar police station.

Following the mother’s complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 8 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, alongside Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. An investigation is currently underway.

The complaint was filed on May 22 by the victim’s mother. According to the police, the minor has been training at the Lions Boxing Club for nearly a decade.

The accused is a 50-year-old who served as the teenager’s boxing coach. The complaint states that he had been harassing the minor girl for the past four years, with the alleged incidents increasing in frequency over the last five to six months.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused repeatedly attempted to establish inappropriate physical closeness with the girl and touched her inappropriately on multiple occasions at Kanteerava Stadium.

The complaint further details an incident on May 17, while the team was in Chennai for a boxing competition. The coach allegedly summoned the minor to his private room, where he touched her inappropriately, forcibly kissed her, and engaged in misconduct.

Furthermore, the complainant alleged that the accused threatened the victim with severe consequences, warning that he would kill her if she informed her family about the abuse. The FIR also notes that a formal complaint regarding the harassment had previously been submitted to an internal committee.

The complainant has stated to the police that a complaint has also been lodged with the committee against the accused coach.

“The accused has been touching my daughter inappropriately with the intention of having a physical relationship. After touching her inappropriately in his private room, he verbally abused her. He had behaved similarly at a stadium in Bengaluru as well,” the mother has charged.

She further alleged, “The accused had threatened my daughter that if she informed family members about this matter, she would not be spared of her life. An investigation is currently underway.
