Centre Launches Special Campaign 6.0 With Focus On E-Waste Collection, Segregation And Disposal

New Delhi: The Central government announced the launch of Special Campaign 6.0, to be undertaken from October 2 to 31, 2026 with a special emphasis on “effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste”, an official statement said on Monday.

During the Special Campaign 5.0, the ministry cleaned a vast area of more than 1.13 crore square feet and over 14,017 metric tons of scrap was disposed of, earning a revenue of Rs 56.85 crores.

The Special Campaign 5.0, held from October 2, 2025 to August 31st, 2026, reinforced a strong commitment to cleanliness, waste management, and environmental responsibility, the Ministry of Coal said in the statement.

The campaign was implemented under the direction of the Ministry of Coal, and yielded impressive results across all Public Sector Undertakings and field offices under its jurisdiction.

As per the DARPG report, the Ministry of Coal emerged as the Top Performer in category of Space Freed and Third position in Revenue Earned during Special Campaign 5.0 amongst all the Ministries/Departments of the government.

MoC had the 100 per cent disposal of Public Grievances & PMO References and also 100 per cent Achievement of target set as a total of files 2,56,478 were reviewed and 1,28,527 files were weeded out or closed.

The ministry also excelled in public outreach, utilising social media platforms to release 3107 tweets, 841 press releases and 29 PIB statements, alongside extensive media coverage, effectively highlighting the campaign’s initiatives and achievements.

The Eco Park in the Orient Area of MCL features representations of the Char Dham, crafted entirely from 7 to 8 tonnes of salvaged materials. The sculptures incorporate retired LHD spares, conveyor belt parts, pump components, drill machine spares, electrical equipment, etc.

The ministry and its PSUs cleaned an impressive 83.92 lakh square feet of space from November, 2025 to August, 2026. It also disposed of over 15,585 metric tons of scrap, resulting in revenue generation of Rs. 55.29 crores.
