Bhopal: A Bhopal district court on Tuesday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) six more days, till August 17, to file its final report in the Twisha Sharma death case after the agency failed to submit the report on the date fixed for it.

The court passed the order while considering the investigating agency’s application seeking further judicial remand.

The matter had been listed on Tuesday specifically for submission of the CBI’s final report, but the report was not filed before the court.

Advocate Ankur Pandey told IANS that the court had granted the CBI time till August 17 to submit the final report.

The court order means the investigating agency now has a fresh deadline to place before the Magistrate the outcome of its investigation, after which the court will consider the report and decide the further course of the proceedings in accordance with law.

The proceedings also witnessed a change in the legal representation of accused Giribala Singh.

The counsel appearing for her through legal aid declined to appear during the hearing.

A private counsel subsequently filed a fresh memo of appearance on Giribala Singh’s behalf.

Twisha Sharma’s father Navnidhi Sharma was present in court along with his counsel during Tuesday’s proceedings.

The case relates to the death of 33-year-old actor and model Twisha Sharma, who was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, 2026, around five months after her marriage to advocate Samarth Singh.

The investigation, initially handled by state agencies, was subsequently taken over by the CBI.

Samarth Singh was arrested in connection with the case, while his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, was arrested by the CBI on May 28 after the Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed the anticipatory bail earlier granted to her.

Since then, both mother and son have been in lodged in Bhopal Central jail.
