New Delhi: As the nation prepares to celebrate the 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged citizens to actively take part in the Centre’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, terming the Tricolour as “pride” and “source of motivation”.

This year, the campaign has been organised under the theme of ‘Vande Mataram’.

Taking to X, PM Modi reposted a Ministry of Culture post, saying “Our Tricolour is our pride and a constant source of inspiration to always give our best for the nation.”

“Let us participate enthusiastically in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement and renew our collective resolve to contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat, he said while underlining this year’s theme as that of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.”

The Prime Minister mentioned: “Glad that this year’s efforts are dedicated to Vande Mataram and that too at a time when we are marking its 150th anniversary.”

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture stated that for 150 years, the call of Vande Mataram “has stirred the soul of a nation”.

In a post on X, the ministry said: “This Independence Day, let that same spirit move through every street and every home as India comes together for Har Ghar Tiranga through Tiranga Yatras, Tiranga Rallies, Tiranga Concerts, and mass singing of Vande Mataram.”

“And this year, witness history unfold as ‘Suryapath Tiranga’ unites Indians across the globe in a first-of-its-kind celebration of the Tricolour,” it added.

Appealing to people to be a part of the campaign, it asked citizens to hoist the Tricolour at their homes and upload their selfies on its official website – http://harghartiranga.com.

Earlier in the day, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ across various states. Party leaders said that the rally is meant to honour the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to uphold the nation’s Tricolour.

In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took part in a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Bhopal.

Speaking to reporters, he said: “With the call of ‘Quit India’, the world witnessed the longing for freedom within India… It is the duty of every patriotic citizen to remember the sacrifices made by all our revolutionaries, martyrs and freedom fighters, who made sacrifices.”

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also participated in the Tiranga rally.

“Our youth are a symbol of energy. Our youth have the strength to face every challenge for the country. This youth energy should get the right platform to move forward and prepare themselves to face the challenges of the country and society. They should also receive traditional education. With this vision, the Tiranga Yatra is being launched across the country by the Bharatiya Janata Party, the world’s largest political organisation…” the CM said.
