Nuapada: A 10-foot-long python was rescued from a chicken farm at Bishibahal village under the Komna Forest range in Nuapada district on Monday after it reportedly entered the premises and devoured 10 chickens.
According to local sources, the reptile entered the poultry farm of Dhanurjya Pradhan during the forenoon, triggering panic among villagers. After discovering the snake, the farm owner alerted local snake rescuers.
Responding to the call, snake rescuers Suresh Kumar Mallik, Kamal Pandey and Tofaan Mallik reached the spot and safely captured the python without causing harm to the animal or residents.
The rescued python was later handed over to the Forest Department, which released it back into its natural habitat in the nearby forest, officials said.
