1,187 Faculty Vacancies In 17 Universities In State: Odisha Govt

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today revealed that 1,911 sanctioned faculty posts are in various departments in 17 government universities in the State. Out of them, 724 lecturers are working while 1,187 posts are vacant.

Responding to BJD MLA Ganeshwar Behera, Higher Education Minister Suryabansi Suraj told the Odisha Assembly that there are a total of 1911 sanctioned faculty posts in various departments in 17 Government Universities in the State. Out of this, 724 posts of lecturers are working in AB and 1187 posts are vacant. The details of the same are attached as per the University

The universities are recruiting guest lecturers and retired lecturers as per the instruction of State government through an official letter issued on February 1.

The universities released advertisements for the post of 1497 guest lecturers and accordingly, 472 guest faculties have been recruited so far, the minister said.

He further added that there are 238 sanctioned faculty posts in 48 government Colleges in different districts of the state, while 1,923 lecturers are currently working and 385 faculty posts are vacant
