12 Houses Gutted In Fire Mishap In Kamakhyanagar

Dhenkanal: Over 12 houses were reduced to ashes in a terrible fire that broke out in Harijan Sahi of Anlabereni village under Kamakhyanagar block in Dhenkanal district on Wednesday.

Property worth more than Rs 12 lakh has been completely destroyed by fire. The family could not save anything from clutches of the blaze.  All the furniture, food grain, household items, important documents were burnt to ashes. The cause of the fire is still unclear.

Two fire tender units from Kamakhya Nagar rushed to scene and extinguished the fire after a two-hour long operation.

The house of Hari Naik of the village caught fire first which engulfed other houses. Local people also cooperated with the fire service personnel in dousing the inferno.

Residents including Hatiya Naik, Vijay Naik, Radhu and Bunu Naik were severely affected by the mishap.

However, the villagers demanded immediate assistance to the families of the fire victims.

Till filing of the reports, no government officials have reached the village.
