Jeypore (Koraput): A 13-year-old schoolgirl died after a wall collapsed on her during a thunderstorm in Kundura block of Koraput district on Sunday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Saraswati Harijan, a Class VII student of Kundura Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV).
According to reports, the incident took place around 5 pm when a thunderstorm accompanied by rain and strong winds hit the area. Saraswati had reportedly gone outside her house to collect clothes that were drying when a portion of a wall collapsed due to the impact of the storm and fell on her.
She sustained severe head injuries and was bleeding heavily. Family members rushed her to the Jeypore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where doctors declared her brought dead.
The body has been kept at the hospital for postmortem examination. Further details are awaited.
