Bhubaneswar: Boudh Police have seized over 15 tonnes (15,040 kg) of ganja and arrested four people in a major crackdown on illegal drugs. The operations, conducted across the district over the past few days under the supervision of SP Rahul Goel, led to the registration of 10 cases under the NDPS Act.
According to police, a total of 10 cases under the NDPS Act have been registered following the massive seizures. In Boudh PS Case No. 54 dated January 31, 2026, a police team seized 62 kg of ganja and a truck bearing registration number JH-10-D-7627 near Jagdishpur Chhaka, arresting two accused.
In another major operation (Boudh PS Case No. 56), 3,630 kg of ganja was recovered from the Sunajhari jungle area, while 320 kg was seized near the Balamtumba forest area in Kantamal PS Case No. 34, also on January 31.
Further recoveries included 110 kg of ganja near Pandrapita village in Ghantapada PS Case No. 26 and 2,150 kg of ganja in Manamunda PS Case No. 47.
On February 2, police seized 496 kg of ganja along with a Tata pick-up vehicle near Baghiapada (Boudh PS Case No. 58) and arrested one person. In Kantamal PS Case No. 36, 86 kg of ganja and two motorcycles were seized, leading to the arrest of another accused. In Baunsuni PS Case No. 18, police recovered 100 kg of ganja and an Innova car.
The operations continued into February 4 with 3,000 kg of ganja recovered near Nuapada Dam (Boudh PS Case No. 60) and 5,000 kg seized near the Sagada OP forest area (Manamunda PS Case No. 52).
All cases have been registered under Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act and investigations are ongoing to dismantle the extensive narcotics network operating in the region.
