Berhampur: At least two persons were killed and over 12 others were injured on Tuesday when a tractor carrying them overturned near Tala Gurandi on the Odisha—Andhra border.
The injured have been admitted to hospitals at Palasa and Manjusha in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
According to reports, people from Buratal and Tumba panchayats under Patrapur block were going to Chikiti to attend a block gherao programme of the BJP in the tractor when the accident occurred. The accident took place when the tractor driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating sharp turns and bends in the ghat road.
Manjusha police from the Andhra side and Jarada police from the Odisha side have reached the spot and rushed the injured to hospitals at Manjusha and Palasa.
