Sundargarh: At least three workers were injured and one of them was critical in a massive explosion at Scan Steels Ltd factory at Gangajal under Kutra block in Sundargarh district today.
According to reports, the workers sustained severe burn injuries after coming in contact with fire and molten metal following the explosion at a furnace of the steel unit.
The injured have been rushed to IGH at Rourkela for treatment. One of the workers has sustained 100% burns and is in critical condition. Following the accident, Fire Service personnel rushed to the factory and have brought the blaze under control.
Factory officials have remained tight-lipped over the incident.
Surprisingly, the office of the Director, Factories and Boilers did not have any information on the mishap.
