Kataka: Police have intensified their investigation into the mysterious death of Kataka Chauliaganj police station’s IIC Beauty Mohanty by constituting three special teams to examine various aspects of the case, with a strong focus on scientific and digital evidence.
Kataka DCP Rishikesh Khilari said the investigation is progressing on multiple fronts, with police having already collected several pieces of digital evidence that are currently being verified. He said conclusions are expected to emerge in the coming days as reports from different sources are analysed.
According to the DCP, the first special team is examining the post-mortem report along with other physical evidence collected during the investigation. The second team is probing the victim’s last communications before her death, while the third team is analysing scientific and digital evidence.
Police have received a partial report from the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL), and analysis of data retrieved from the deceased’s mobile phone is also underway. Since forensic findings are being received in different formats, the verification process is continuing.
An officer of the rank of Additional DCP has been assigned to supervise the investigation, while DCP Khilari is personally monitoring the progress of the case. He said police are maintaining regular contact with the deceased’s family members to facilitate the investigation and gather relevant information.
At present, police have registered only an unnatural death (UD) case and are investigating the exact cause of Beauty Mohanty’s death. Officials said the nature of the case may change if the investigation establishes evidence pointing to a specific offence.
