Bhubaneswar: INS Chilka witnessed a proud and significant milestone as 3,011 trainees of Batch 01/26 successfully passed out on Friday after completing 16 weeks of rigorous ab-initio naval training.
The Passing Out Parade marked the successful transformation of the trainees from recruits into disciplined, motivated and professionally trained personnel ready to undertake the responsibilities of naval service. The batch comprised 2,746 Agniveers of the Indian Navy, including 116 women Agniveers, and 265 Naviks of the Indian Coast Guard.
The parade was reviewed by Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. Commodore B. Deepak Aneel, Station Commander, INS Chilka, served as the Conducting Officer. The ceremony was attended by veterans, senior officers, eminent personalities and family members of the trainees.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Admiral Vatsayan congratulated the trainees on successfully completing the demanding training programme. He urged them to uphold the Indian Navy’s core values of Duty, Honour and Courage and serve the nation with dedication, integrity and professionalism.
The Chief Guest presented medals, trophies and awards to trainees who displayed exceptional performance during the training period. Kornana Dhanalakshmi and Rudhikesh Maruti Pawar received the Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy and Gold Medal for Best Trainee in the Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) and Matric Recruit (MR) categories, respectively.
Prapti Ramesh Chavhan was awarded the Rolling Trophy for Best Woman Trainee in the Overall Order of Merit, while Devasish was adjudged the Best Navik (General Duty).
Prior to the parade, a Valedictory Function was organised, featuring the presentation of the End-of-Term Report and a cultural programme performed by the trainees. Kharavela Division emerged as the Overall Champion, while Angre Division secured the Runners-Up position.
The occasion also saw the unveiling of “Ankur (01/26)”, the bilingual trainees’ magazine of INS Chilka, documenting the experiences, achievements and transformational journey of the trainees during their 16-week training period at the premier naval training establishment.
