Sundargarh: Sundargarh police have arrested four persons including the prime accused in the businessman Murari Tanti murder case of April 29.
Police have seized the weapon used in the murder-a country-made pistol and one motorcycle used during the commission of the crime.
According to the police, the murder was a fallout of the existing group rivalry.
“We have arrested four persons in connection with the incident in Sundargarh town in which a person was shot dead,” informed Sundargarh SP Sagarika Nath addressing a presser here today.
The arrestees include the persons who had planned it, the ones who had helped the assailant to escape and the ones who had supplied the murder weapon- -a pistol, Nath added.
The Sundergarh SP said that four teams were formed to nab the accused persons which included an inter-district coordination team since the accused persons had fled the district, a local investigation team, a cyber team and one dedicated ITMS team.
The murder was the fallout of existing group rivalry, the SP added.
“Based on the efforts of these four teams today we have been able to apprehend all the four accused involved in this case. The murder weapon has been also seized. The vehicle used by them to escape has also been seized. They will be forwarded to court today,” Nath elaborated.
All the arrestees have criminal antecedents and have pending cases against them at various police stations, she added.
Worth mentioning, that unidentified masked miscreants had fired two rounds at Tanti on April 29 evening near PCR Cinema Hall on Government College road in Sundargarh town while he was crossing the road after alighting from his car. The miscreants had managed to flee the spot on a motorcycle. While Tanti of Mohantiapada was rushed to the hospital, doctors declared him dead.
