Bhubaneswar: Four persons, including a minor boy, drowned while taking a bath after celebrating Holi in different parts of the state on Saturday.
The first incident took place near Podampeta village under Rambha police limits in Ganjam district.
According to reports, a 10-year-old boy drowned while bathing in the sea after the Holi festivities in the afternoon. The boy was swept away by strong currents and drowned while bathing with some of his friends.
After being alerted, locals quickly rescued the boy and rushed him to the Chhatrapur Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) in a critical condition. Despite efforts, the doctor declared him dead on arrival.
In a similar incident, a youth drowned while bathing in the Mahanadi River in Cuttack district after the Holi celebrations.
The incident occurred near Bhattarika Peeth in the Narasinghapur area. The identity of the deceased youth is yet to be determined.
In the third incident, a person drowned while bathing in a pond after the Holi festival in Kalahandi district.
The last incident involved a tourist who drowned while bathing in the sea in Puri district.
