Nabarangpur: A four-year-old girl was killed after a mini truck allegedly ran over her near the Old Bus Stand in Umarkot town of Nabarangpur district on Sunday.
The victim, a resident of Koigaon village under Dangriguda panchayat in Jharigam block, was walking along the roadside with her mother and two siblings when the accident occurred.
According to reports, the mini truck hit the child and ran over her head, leaving her critically injured.
A local auto-rickshaw driver rushed the girl to the Umarkot Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Umarkot police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. The police also seized the offending vehicle and detained its driver for questioning.
