Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar have arrested five persons including a woman in connection with the theft of laboratory instruments from Capital Hospital.
The accused have been identified as Bhagirathi Nayak (48), Rama Nayak (45), Sagar Nayak (32), Gopal Krushna Panda (53), and Sk Alamin.
While Bhagirathi, Rama, and Sagar are house keeping staff of Capital Hospital, Gopal Krushna Panda is the housekeeping supervisor of Capital Hospital and Sk Alamin is a scrap dealer.
Capital police have seized two damaged pathological articles from Sk Alamin, the scrap dealer.
The accused persons have been forwarded to court.
According to a press note issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhubaneswar, Director of Capital Hospital Dr Laxmidhar Sahu on Tuesday had lodged a written complaint agains Bhagirathi, Rama, and Sagar alleging that they had stolen instruments from the hospital’s pathology laboratory.
The three who worked as housekeeping staff in Capital Hospital were arrested by the police. During interrogation, they told the police that on instructions of housekeeping supervisor Gopal they had sold the old laboratory instruments to scrap dealer Sk Alamin.
During interrogation Gopal and Sk Alamin confessed to their crime and were arrested.
