Koraput: Police arrested five people, including three minors, in connection with a murder case in Nakulguda village under B. Singhpur Police limits in Koraput district.
The accused have been identified as Bhakta Adhari and Nilakant Majhi, both from Nakulguda village, who allegedly killed Jagannath with a wooden stick.
At a press conference, Borigumma SDPO Tapaswini Kanhar stated that the deceased, 26-year-old Jagannath Majhi, was killed by his nephew Bhakta Adhari and his friends while they were intoxicated.
According to the police, on January 1, Jagannath, who was under the influence of alcohol, threatened the accused during a volleyball match. He also cut the volleyball net.
Later that evening, after the match, the accused were planning to have a party when Jagannath, still drunk, returned and confronted them while holding a wooden stick. A fight broke out, involving Jagannath, his nephew, and his friends, all of whom were also intoxicated. The altercation escalated, resulting in Jagannath’s death.
“Two of the accused will be presented in court today, while the three minors will be sent to Berhampur,” said SDPO Tapaswini Kanhar.
