Bhubaneswar: 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian on Monday visited the under-construction Mission Shakti Bazar in the heart of the capital city Bhubaneswar.
The sprawling Mission Shakti Bazaar will be a delight to urban customers. It is being developed under the 5T initiative and is nearing completion. It will be open for selling various products soon.
Spread over an area of 10,000 sqft, it will have Mission Shakti SHG products from all across the state for sale and display. A thousand different farm and non-farm products to start with like hand-pound red rice and pickles from Berhampur, the famous Kandhamala Haldi, honey from Nuapada, Sabai products from Mayurbhanj, golden grass products from Kendrapara, Phula Badi from Keonjhar and many more.
This will be a boutique store showcasing the rich variety of SHG products. While meeting the retail needs of Bhubaneswar customers it will also encourage big buyers to contact SHG producers. It will also find a place in the tourism map of Odisha for authentic handmade products by women.
Taken up under Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s 5T initiative, Mission Shakti Bazaar marks a milestone in transforming SHGs into SMEs.
Expressing happiness over the progress, Pandian said that it is one of the finest examples of women-led entrepreneurship. This Bazaar will be managed by the Khurda Matrushakti Farmers Producer Company formed by women SHGs and has SHGs as its shareholders.
