Bhubaneswar: A training programme for National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers under the Suposhit Odisha Abhiyan was organised at Jayadev Bhawan here on Tuesday to prepare volunteers for collecting nutrition-related data of children enrolled at Anganwadi centres across the state.
The programme was jointly organised by the State NSS Cell under the Higher Education Department and the Women and Child Development Department. NSS volunteers, district nodal officers and programme officers attended the training session.
Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Women and Child Development Department Mrinalini Darswal, Director of the Higher Education Department Kali Prasanna Mahapatra, Deputy Secretary Ramesh Chandra Behera and Regional Director of the NSS Regional Directorate Ajit Kumar Kushwaha were among those present at the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Darswal said NSS volunteers would play an important role in collecting nutrition-related information on children studying at Anganwadi centres and contribute to the goal of building a well-nourished Odisha.
She said the training would equip the volunteers with the necessary understanding and skills to effectively undertake the responsibility assigned to them under the Suposhit Odisha Abhiyan.
In the first phase of the initiative, around 6,000 women NSS volunteers will collect nutrition-related data of children enrolled at nearly 23,000 Anganwadi centres across Odisha.
Higher Education Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Arvind Agrawal extended his greetings and best wishes to the volunteers associated with the campaign, expressing confidence that their participation would make a significant contribution towards creating a healthier and well-nourished Odisha.
