Bhubaneswar: The district administrations of Jajpur and Bhadrak have ordered closure of schools in flood-affected areas today in view of waterlogging and restoration work.
As per an office order issued by the District Education Officer of Jajpur, classes in government, government aided and private schools will remain suspended on Saturday. Other schools shall function as usual.
Going by the notification, all schools in two blocks of the Jajpur district have been declared closed. As many as 58 schools in Dasarathpur and Binjharpur blocks will remain shut today in view of the flood situation and rehabilitation work.
The order clarified that other schools in the district will function as usual. However, schools where classes have been suspended shall remain open and be made available for rescue and rehabilitation purposes as and when required.
“Keeping in view flood situation and water logging in many parts of the district, Classes in Govt/Govt. Aided/Private Schools (Elementary, Secondary & IISS) as at Annexure-A shall remain suspended on dated 29.08.2026 (Saturday) and other schools shall function as usual. However, schools where classes are suspended shall remain open and shall be made available for rescue and rehabilitation purpose as and when required”, read the notification.
Meanwhile, the Bhadrak district administration has ordered suspension of eight schools in four panchayats under Chandbali block due to flood restoration work.
