Bhadrak: At least seven people sustained critical injuries after unidentified miscreants hurled bombs at a group of villagers in Kampada under Tihidi police limits in Bhadrak district, late Wednesday night.
According to sources, two unidentified assailants arrived on a motorcycle and lobbed crude bombs at locals who were seated by the roadside. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the assault.
Several people, including women, were injured in the incident. All the victims were initially rushed to Tihidi Community Health Centre (CHC). Three of them, whose conditions were reported to be critical, were later referred to the Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for advanced treatment.
Following the incident, police personnel from Tihidi station reached the spot and began a probe.
A platoon of police force has been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.
“We have initiated an investigation. Adequate force has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident,” said Satyabrata Grahacharya (IIC), Tihidi Police Station.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.
