SIR Exercise

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has achieved significant progress in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, with around 70 per cent of enumeration forms distributed across the state so far, officials said on Sunday.

The statewide exercise, undertaken under the directions of the Election Commission, aims to update, verify and make the electoral roll more accurate and error-free across all constituencies.

According to official data, more than 2 crore voters have already been covered within the first nine days of the campaign. The total reach stands at 2,31,77,084 electors, reflecting the rapid pace of implementation by field-level functionaries.

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer is closely monitoring the revision process, while Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are conducting door-to-door distribution and collection of enumeration forms. Officials said the coordinated efforts of field staff have contributed to the swift progress of the drive.

Authorities have urged eligible voters who have not yet submitted their forms to do so without delay. They cautioned that failure to submit the enumeration forms within the stipulated timeframe may lead to deletion of names from the electoral roll.

For the convenience of voters, the Election Commission has also enabled online submission of forms, eliminating the need to visit BLOs in person.

Citizens have been advised to contact their respective BLOs and ensure submission of duly filled forms along with accurate details to secure inclusion in the revised electoral roll.

For assistance and information related to voter registration, corrections or other electoral services, the public can contact the Election Commission’s toll-free helpline number 1950.

Officials said special arrangements have been put in place to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the process.

The administration has set a target of achieving 100 per cent coverage by reaching the remaining voters in the coming days, with public cooperation being sought to ensure the successful completion of the exercise.
