Cuttack: The 73rd State Police Athletic Championship which was organised at the Reserve Police Ground in Buxibazar, Cuttack, concluded successfully. The event was held from February 22 to 24. Director General of Police YB Khurania attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest and distributed prizes to the successful athletes.
A total of 41 police teams from various ranges and battalions across the state participated in the championship, with 797 athletes taking part. The breakdown of participants included 665 men and 132 women.
The primary objective of this competition is to foster a sense of camaraderie among athletes, promoting self-confidence, discipline, and dedication among police officers and employees.
DGP Khurania said that this athletic event was organized after a five-year hiatus. This year’s championship witnessed Odisha Police players create nine new records, a remarkable achievement. The event also brought forth new talents, and it is expected that Odisha Police will excel in the upcoming All-India Police Athletic Games, the DGP added.
The participation of players from state, district, and range levels in this tournament is anticipated to promote harmony among them.
Senior state police officers, including DIG Charan Singh Meena, Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena, 6th Battalion Commandant Suryanarayan Mallick, and IG Praveen Kumar, were present on the concluding day of the championship.
