Bhadrak: Bhadrak police on Tuesday late night detained eight persons suspected of being Bangladeshi nationals in the Basudevpur police station area of Bhadrak district.
According to reports, a total of 338 people have been verified so far. The police have intensified checks under 19 police stations, seven outposts, and three marine police stations, including Kasia, Chudamani, and Dhamara Marine, as part of the district-wide security operation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that all eight detainees are residents of West Bengal. Police have also stepped up search operations in Dhamara, Basudevpur, Dosinga, Kaithkhola, Bansada, and Karanjamal areas. As part of the verification process, police are checking Aadhaar cards and mobile phones of all individuals to confirm identity.
The police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to ascertain the background of the detained persons.
