Sundaragada: Scrub typhus cases in Sundaragada district have risen to 871 during the ongoing rainy season, prompting the health department to step up surveillance and public awareness measures, officials said.
Cases have been reported from different parts of the district, with the number of infections continuing to draw attention amid favourable conditions for the spread of the disease during the monsoon. However, the health department said no death due to scrub typhus has been reported in the district so far.
Officials of the office Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer (CDM&PHO) said the situation is being closely monitored and awareness drives are being conducted to educate people about the disease and the need for timely medical intervention. Residents have been advised not to ignore symptoms associated with scrub typhus and to consult a doctor promptly if they develop any signs of infection.
The rise in reported cases has emerged as a challenge for the health authorities, who are focusing on early detection, treatment and preventing further transmission while urging people to remain alert and take necessary precautions.
